Is eating during the day really not done during Ramadan in Malaysia?

I'm going to kuala lumpur on Sept 17 to 22 with my wife. We're not muslims so I'd like to know if there will be restaurants open during the day for non-muslims during the ramadan period. I am asking this because I would like to prepare our trip with respect and accordance to the culture of Malaysians.
