I've just watched Terrorstorm by Alex Jones...?

I found the evidence and ideas to be fascinating. My question is though: If our government is attempting to gain the fascist dictatorship that this movie implies, what would be the point of gaining such leverage with a maximum "reign" of only two consecutive four year terms? The president has created such an opposition that basically every potential candidate seems determined to either completely omit his foreign campaign or drastically change it's course. If this was indeed a "false flag" operation to gain our support for an illegal war, was it all in vain?
